What Our Clients Have to Say
Google reviews of Sam Aguiar Injury Lawyers, quoted as written.
★★★★★I was one of those people who felt injury lawyers were not necessary if it was 100% the other party’s fault. I was so wrong. My mother was injured in a car vs pedestrian accident. The insured had what I would consider a very reputable insurance carrier, and there were eyewitnesses. I attempted to work with them without legal counsel. Their first offer would have given me more for my lost wages than my elderly Mom would have received for her broken pelvis. It was such a low offer that they should have been embarrassed. They said they did not want to negotiate. I called Sam Aguiar, and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. They received over five times the amount initially offered and got the medical bills covered. Lesson learned. Insurance companies don’t want to be reasonable anymore, and the attorneys and staff weren’t putting up with that.
★★★★★I work in the legal field, so it was important to me to get someone I could trust when it came to my case. I cannot recommend Sam Aguiar more! They took care of me from day 1 and handled the case better than I could have ever expected. I will recommend using them always!
★★★★★They welcomed me like family, making me feel that I mattered to them and that I wasn’t just another case. I truly appreciate and would like to thank all the lawyers and staff who made me feel at home. The best lawyer I’ve ever come across. Thank you, Sam!
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about truck accident cases and the records trucking companies keep.
What should I bring to a case review?
Bring the accident report if you have it, photographs, medical paperwork, and letters about the accident. Add a short list of your questions. If a document is missing, say so.
Where is the Lexington office?
Our office is at 620 W. Main Street, Lexington, KY 40508. Call (859) 888-8000 for a free case review.
Can I ask about a delivery vehicle accident?
Yes. Delivery vehicle accidents are among the commercial vehicle cases Hollan & Aguiar handles.
What does an electronic logging device record?
An electronic logging device connects to the truck’s engine and records driving time automatically. Each time the driver’s duty status changes, and once an hour while the truck is moving, it records the date, time, location, engine hours, vehicle miles, and the driver, truck, and trucking company identification (49 CFR 395.26). A trucking company must require its drivers to use one unless an exception in 49 CFR 395.8(a) applies.
How long must a trucking company keep its records?
Federal rules set minimums. Drivers’ records of duty status and their supporting documents must be kept for six months (49 CFR 395.8(k)). Inspection, repair, and maintenance records must be kept for one year, and for six months after the truck leaves the company’s control (49 CFR 396.3(c)). A driver’s qualification file must be kept while the driver works for the company and for three years after (49 CFR 391.51(c)).
